We work with a variety of Tray profiles across all the major suppliers, giving us a unique opportunity to approach any project with extensive experience, targeted knowledge and great backing from our suppliers.
Although there are many profile options to choose from, it is important to note that these profiles fall under two categories depending on the substrate they are fixed to: Ply substrate, or timber purlins.
These are EuroTray profiles laid over a plywood substrate. Generally, a Tray roof laid over plywood achieves a better aesthetic result, as this will eliminate some of the opportunity for oil canning*.
Non-traditional Tray profiles are versatile because they can be laid over timber purlins, similar to a standard profile long-run roof.
Oil canning is an inherent characteristic of gauge cold-formed metal products, particularly those with broad flat areas like Tray profiles. It is seen as waviness or distortion in the flat surfaces. Oil canning does not affect the strength or performance of the product.
The architect, builder and homeowner need to be aware that oil canning may affect the overall aesthetic outcome. Oil canning may occur during the roll-forming process and or during installation and where thermal expansion occurs.
We work and collaborate with many local businesses to ensure the job is done right.
